A plumbing disaster avoided in Elizabeth Bay
Joe and Rubina lived in a multi-storey home right near the water in Elizabeth Bay. The house was pretty old but it had weathered well.
One evening, Rubina noticed a streak of wetness on the ceiling in their sitting room downstairs. The wet spot was just below the shower in the bathroom upstairs. It seemed like water was leaking from the shower into the floor somehow.
The very next day, Joe called in a local plumber. He stuck some silicon in the vulnerable areas and left.
When Joe came home that evening and discovered that the plumber had simply put in some silicon in the shower on top, he was worried and quite angry. If there was the smallest chance of more water getting in, he would soon have the entire upper floor sliding down into the sitting room. That, he did not want.
So, he decided to call his friend who had worked as a plumber for a plumbing agency in Darling Point. After listening to Joe’s problem, his friend agreed that it was foolish to turn away from the leak without plugging it totally and making sure that the ceiling was drying out. He told Joe that some extensive work would be involved since the ceiling would have to be opened up, checked, left to dry and then closed up.
Joe’s friend referred him to an emergency plumber in Elizabeth Bay. “Call them and tell them what the problem is. They are the experts and they take care of all sorts of plumbing problems, big and small. They have clients all around town from Rushcutters Bay, Potts Point and Darling Point to the entire Eastern Suburbs, Edgecliffe, Paddington, Woolloomooloo and Darlinghurst. They are the best guys for a plumbing problem like this.”
Early next morning, Joe called the plumber from Elizabeth Bay and discussed his problem. The plumber showed keen interest and wanted to take a look at the ceiling and the bathroom so he could assess the damage and do the needful.
After the inspection, the emergency plumber from Elizabeth Bay explained the problem in detail. He informed Joe of what needed to be done. He also prepared a detailed work plan and a quote, and he gave them a job quote. Joe was happy with the thoroughness of the plumber. Yes, this was the kind of person he wanted on the job.
A month later, Joe was extremely happy with the ceiling work. There was not a patch of wetness. The plumber had completed his work as promised. He had even left a guarantee for the work he had done, promising to come and service him for free in case of any leakages in the same area in the future.
